Los Angeles-based green construction experts recently broke ground in Lancaster, CA on the world's first solar and lithium-FE battery powered home.

According to KB Home Director Craig LeMessurier, the garage-stored 2 by 3 foot, 15 pound batteries hold enough energy to power the house for up to 3 days, regardless if the solar panels are shadowed by June's notoriously gloomy character.

In a recent Ecohome interview, Alamosa county Mayor R.Rex Parris acknowledged green-lighting a community home-comparison study that will monitor the cost and energy saving benefits of transitioning California homes to this innovative technology. Partnering with KB Home in supporting eco-friendly projects, the city of Lancaster has waived all of the municipal development fees for the eco-home.
